JOB DESCRIPTION
The Network Systems Engineer at Lakewood Church is a full-time role responsible for ensuring the reliability, security, and performance of enterprise-grade networking and storage systems that support live services and broadcasts. This role provides hands-on technical support, troubleshooting, and creative problem-solving for mission-critical systems used across Media, Marketing, and Music teams. The ideal candidate will have strong expertise in enterprise networking and storage, a proactive approach to problem-solving, and a commitment to Lakewood’s mission of sharing hope through Jesus Christ.
This position reports to the Technical Director.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS
Network & Systems Support
- Manage and maintain Fortinet and Cisco enterprise network topologies to ensure reliable connectivity for live broadcast workflows
- Oversee configuration, monitoring, and troubleshooting of multiple SAN and NAS storage systems supporting Media and Marketing teams
- Maintain, update, and troubleshoot computers and servers used in live broadcast environments
- Ensure optimal performance and security of networking equipment including firewalls, routers, and switches
- Diagnose and resolve network, connectivity, and power issues affecting production systems
Infrastructure & Security
- Work with vendors and internal teams to plan and implement infrastructure upgrades and maintenance
- Monitor and enforce network security protocols, access controls, and backup strategies
- Assist with equipment installations and upgrade projects as directed by the Senior Broadcast Engineer (SBE)
- Report potential issues or areas of concern to the SBE
- Proactively recommend improvements, efficiencies, and solutions to technical challenges
Event Coverage & Collaboration
- Provide first-line technical support for connectivity issues during live events, ensuring seamless data transmission and production continuity
- Support weekend and special event services, covering all systems tasks as needed
- Collaborate with Media, Marketing, and Music teams to ensure uninterrupted production workflows
- Handle sensitive, confidential information with tact, discretion, and diplomacy
- Perform other related duties as assigned

QUALIFICATIONS

- Proven expertise in enterprise networking, including Fortinet and Cisco enterprise systems
- Experience managing and troubleshooting SAN and NAS storage solutions in live production environments
- Ability to diagnose, troubleshoot, and resolve complex network and system issues under pressure
- Demonstratable knowledge of network security standards, firewalls, and access control best practices
- Strong problem-solving skills with initiative to stay current on innovations in networking and mission-critical broadcast and live production technologies

- Must be available to work all weekends except two non-taping and two taping weekends, per schedule with management approval
EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE
- Bachelor’s degree in a related field preferred, or equivalent work experience
- Minimum of 4 years of relevant network and systems engineering experience, preferably in broadcast or live production environments
