JOB DESCRIPTION
The Audio-Visual (AV) Technician supports Lakewood Church events and services through the setup, operation, and maintenance of audio-visual equipment. This role helps create seamless, impactful experiences across worship services, classes, and special events by ensuring all AV elements function with precision and care. The ideal candidate is detail-oriented, thrives in live production environments, and is eager to grow within a faith-driven, collaborative team.

This position reports to the Manager of AV Production.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS

  • Properly set up, operate, and tear down AV equipment for meetings, classes, and small- to mid-size events across campus
  • Serve in assigned AV roles (e.g., audio, video, lighting) during major services and conferences
  • Accurately read and execute setup requirements based on AV diagrams and production notes
  • Troubleshoot AV issues in real-time and escalate repairs as needed to ensure system integrity
  • Maintain organization of AV storage areas and ensure equipment is stored properly post-use
  • Perform routine equipment inspections and basic maintenance to ensure functionality
  • Support departmental safety and emergency protocols while working in production areas
  • Provide basic instruction on the operation of AV equipment as necessary to support the ministries and departments we serve
  • Provide mentorship and guidance to AV Assistants during live events or equipment setup
  • Maintain professionalism and discretion when handling sensitive or confidential church information
  • Engage in ongoing training and development related to AV systems, including sound, lighting, signal flow, and troubleshooting
  • Adapt quickly to technical challenges during live events
  • Perform other related duties as assigned

MINISTERIAL DUTIES

You are responsible for communicating the Church’s beliefs and mission to our congregants, maintaining a lifestyle consistent with the Scriptures, and are required to belong to the Church as part of our faith community.

This will include:

  • Regular attendance at Church services and classes
  • Serving as a Prayer Partner or as a volunteer in any ministry of the Church
  • Serving the community through local outreaches when needed by the Church

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Uncompromised commitment to Lakewood Church’s vision, mission, values, and core beliefs
  • Professional demeanor and conduct reflecting a Christ-like character
  • Technical knowledge in audio, video, and lighting systems, with an emphasis on troubleshooting and system flow
  • Experience operating AV systems in live environments
  • In-person experience providing onsite technical support with a customer service attitude to event hosts
  • Prior experience in coaching and mentoring is a plus
  • Strong analytical, interpersonal, teamwork, collaborative, and communication skills
  • High reliability, attention to detail, and demonstrable organizational skills
  • Ability to move freely through multiple event locations
  • Ability to lift and carry up to 40 lbs and work in active, fast-paced settings

EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE

  • High School diploma or equivalent
  • Minimum of 2 years of experience in AV operations, including experience with signal routing, live production environments, and basic equipment maintenance
