Lakewood Church and Joel Osteen Ministries is an exciting ministry that is making a difference around the world. Champions Club is the special needs ministry of Lakewood Church, specializing in ministering to kids, teens, and adults with special needs and the medically fragile. Champions Club meets the developmental needs of individuals with special needs in four important ways: SPIRITUALLY, INTELLECTUALLY, EMOTIONALLY, and PHYSICALLY. Our focus is on spiritual growth through God’s Word, developing the intellect of each participant through the five senses via various learning tools, and engaging the child physically during active motor fun.
As the Childcare Worker within our Champions Club, you will be a part of impacting people across the world through the opportunities described below:
Reports to: This position reports to the Champions Club Director.
Essential Job Functions:
- Minister to our special-needs children/members in a classroom, inclusive of teaching, guiding, and comforting them
- Care for the physical, emotional, and spiritual needs of the children/members
- Engage all children/members in the assigned area at their developmental stage
- Teach the assigned Champions Club curriculum with enthusiasm
- Ensure that you are delivering quality ministry in the assigned classroom or role
- Actively pursue chances to assist with transitions, challenging behaviors, and extra duties with a positive team attitude
- Adhere to all established Child Safety & Emergency protocols as defined by law and Lakewood Church policies
- Model a Christ-like attitude at all times
- Ensure that parents and children, and other Champions staff and volunteers have a positive experience
- Demonstrate positives actions that inspire volunteer commitment in others
- Arrive at the assigned areas on time, prepared, and ready to work
- Maintain flexibility to work with children of all ages, different personalities, and in different roles
- Maintain professionalism in dealing with parents and other personnel regarding sensitive and confidential information
- Communicate schedule changes in a timely manner with Management
- Complete all paperwork and classroom clean-up as assigned
- Attend all team meetings, staff meetings, and area trainings
- Perform other duties as assigned.
MINISTERIAL DUTIES

You are responsible for communicating the Church’s beliefs and our mission to our congregants, maintaining a lifestyle consistent with the Scriptures, and are required to belong to the Church as part of our faith community.
This will also include:
- Regular attendance at Church services and classes,
- Serving as a Prayer Partner or as a volunteer in any ministry of the Church, and
- Serving our community through local outreaches from time to time when needed by the Church
Qualifications
- Uncompromised commitment to Lakewood Church’s vision, values, and core belief
- Growing, committed follower of Christ
- Must be able to work on Sundays
- Enjoy serving and ministering to children and their parents
- Ability to relate to children/members of all ages, parents, volunteers, other staff, and leaders in a positive manner
- Cooperative and respectful of others, regardless of their attitude
- Gracious, kind, and loving, even under intense pressure
- An understanding of and commitment to enforcing our child safety policies and processes
- Open to correction and responsive to volunteer and staff leadership
- Demonstrated commitment to excellence in one or more areas of responsibility
- Able to regularly lift up to 20 pounds
Education & Experience
- HS Diploma or GED
- Minimum 6 months experience volunteering, daycare, or teaching experience
- Professional Certifications/Education related to Special Education protocols is preferred
- Previous experience working with special needs students preferred
- Specific ABA experience is a plus
