Job Description

The Spanish Junior High School Pastor oversees all aspects of the Junior High School Ministries for 6th to 8th grades, leading staff and volunteers to align with the church's vision. This role involves using knowledge, skills, and influence within the church and community to build a robust Junior High School Ministry.

This position reports to the Spanish Next Gen Pastor.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS

  • Provide pastoral support and care for Lakewood's Spanish Junior High student ministry
  • Manage the continuous spiritual and leadership development of the Spanish Junior High School staff and volunteer leaders
  • Regularly speak/preach to the Spanish Junior High School students at scheduled service times and special events
  • Establish and execute the vision & direction for the Spanish Lakewood Youth Ministry
  • Regularly report on the status and health of the ministry to senior leaders
  • Supervise all aspects of the 6th-8th grade speaker series and events
  • Assist with leading regular devotional times and staff meetings
  • Conduct monthly one-on-one meetings with key ministry directors
  • Measure the progress and growth of each ministry through goal development and evaluations
  • Oversee special events such as Retreats, Outings, Camps, etc.
  • Oversee the development of ministry teams for the Junior High School Ministry
  • Assist with and organize student outreach efforts by partnering with our relief and outreach department
  • Understand and apply all Lakewood Child Safety policies, emergency protocols, and procedures
  • Perform other related duties as assigned

MINISTERIAL DUTIES

You are responsible for communicating the Church’s beliefs and our mission to our congregants, to maintain a lifestyle consistent with the Scriptures, and are required to belong to the Church as part of our faith community.

This will also include:

  • Regular attendance at Church services and classes
  • Serving as a Prayer Partner or as a volunteer in any ministry of the Church, and
  • Serving our community through local outreaches from time to time when needed by the Church

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Uncompromised commitment to Lakewood Church’s vision, mission, values, and core beliefs
  • Demonstrated Christlike character
  • Ability to mentor young people in their spiritual growth
  • Demonstrable knowledge of the Bible and Biblical principles
  • Ability to organize, edit, and verbally deliver a concise and proper Bible-based sermon
  • Basic understanding of computer hardware and software systems
  • Excellent organizational and time management abilities
  • Ability to multitask and prioritize tasks effectively
  • Willingness to learn and take on new challenges in a fast-paced environment
  • Strong interpersonal and relational skills
  • Ability to effectively communicate with adults and parents both orally and in written correspondence
  • Fully fluent in both English and Spanish is required
  • Ability to organize, develop, and lead leaders/volunteers
  • Ability to collaborate with church staff and align Junior High initiatives with the church's vision

EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE

  • A minimum of some college or Bible College is required
  • 2 years of experience in leading, preferably in a children’s ministry, youth ministry, and/or family ministry, is preferred
  • Experience in managing teams of employees and volunteers is preferred
  • 1-2 years of experience volunteering or working in a youth ministry
  • Previous experience in organizing large events and outreach activities is a plus
