Audio Visual Technical Supervisor

AUDIO VISUAL TECHNICAL SUPERVISOR


JOB DESCRIPTION

The Audio-Visual Technician Supervisor position is vital to the success of everyday technology church events. The Audio-Visual Technician Supervisor is responsible for setup, running, and take down of audio/visual (A/V) equipment used throughout the building. The Audio-Visual Technician Supervisor will also provide technical assistance and support during events as requested or as needed. It is important that the Audio-Visual Technician Supervisor be familiar with the building, its equipment, policies, programs, and services and the day-to-day schedule of events.  Specific duties include, but are not limited to the following planning, organizing, directing, evaluating, analyzing, and coordinating the activities and functions of the department fostering and maintaining an environment that promotes high morale, productivity, quality and customer service and interacting effectively with ministries and church staff.

This position reports directly to the Director of Broadcast & Production Engineering.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS

  • To properly install, operate, remove, store and maintain all audio
  • Set up/remove AV equipment for meetings/events
  • Ensure setup and storage of AV equipment after all events, keeping the storage areas organized
  • Respond to request from the Events Department and Ministries
  • Reading and interpreting room diagrams with respect to AV setups
  • Troubleshooting AV equipment and facilitating repairs where warranted
  • Attend Events Department weekly meetings regarding activities requiring AV support
  • Schedule and give leadership to the AV Dept staff and volunteers
  • Manage and Supervise a team of 6-10 AVL Technicians
  • Creating and distributing the Weekly Activity Report (WAR)
  • Be attentive to the safety and security of the AV Department Staff and equipment
  • Be aware of emergency procedures
  • Provide basic instruction on the operation of AV equipment as necessary
  • Clean and maintain AV equipment, report damages and misuse to the Director of Broadcast & Production Engineering
  • Establish and maintain effective and productive working relationships with vendors, contractors, ministries, and co-workers
  • Handle sensitive, confidential information and assignments with tact, discretion and diplomacy
  • Other duties as assigned

  • The Church is seeking a candidate with extensive technical knowledge and experience in working with sound, video and lighting systems and their design, including terminology and methodology
  • Applicants should possess excellent analytical skills, interpersonal skills, and teamwork skills, as well as the ability to communicate effectively both orally and in writing

EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE

  • Some college preferred
  • Mobility to get from room to room
  • 3 years minimum of experience in industry related field working in multi-room setups, dealing with Audio, Video and Lighting.  This includes signal flow, troubleshooting, electrical understanding, customer service and etc.
